I don't think anyone has a clue about this. This, or something like
it, seems to happen on a few Cygwin releases, and totally fails to
happen on others.
It might well be some latent bug in either our code or else the
garbage collector, or it might be something that Cygwin is doing wrong
(but sometimes gets lucky, depending on ... what?).
I'm afraid someone with Cygwin is going to have to get down and dirty
with gdb the hard way -- or else just stick with a version that works,
but I expect there is something worth learning at the heart of this.
Thank goodneess it's not happening on a cell phone or something like
that... ;-)
